Free Trademark Search and Screening Free

Search the whole federal register in seconds, and see not just what conflicts but why.

The federal register is public, but searching it well is not easy. A name can be blocked by something spelled differently, pronounced the same, translated from another language, or simply containing your word plus something generic. Exact-match search misses all of it.

We run those checks in one pass and explain which conflicts actually matter, so you can take a specific question to an attorney rather than paying one to do a search you have already done.

Dominant-element matching

"Google Solutions" and "GOOGLE" share no normalised spelling and no phonetic code, yet one plainly blocks the other. Generic words are stripped before comparison so the part that carries legal weight is what gets matched.

Seven kinds of similarity

Identical wording, identical dominant portion, shared opening runs, plural and singular forms, containment, similar spelling and phonetic similarity — each scored separately and shown with its reason, rather than collapsed into one opaque number.

Class-aware, including related classes

Conflicts are weighted by whether they sit in your class, a related one, or somewhere unconnected. A mark in an unrelated class is usually not your problem, and saying so is as useful as flagging one that is.

Coexistence evidence

Where similar marks already live together in the same class, we say so. A crowded field weakens a senior mark's scope, and that is the argument an attorney makes back — so it appears next to the problem rather than being left for you to find.

Live status, real owners, real domains

Dead marks are marked dead. Owners are checked against assignment records, so a mark sold years ago shows who holds it now. Domain availability comes from registry RDAP records rather than being guessed from missing DNS.

Common questions

Is the trademark search free?

Yes. Searching and viewing results is free with no account. PDF reports are priced separately.

Does a clear result mean the name is safe?

No. It means nothing conflicting was found in the US federal register as indexed. Common law rights, state registrations and foreign marks are largely outside this data, and an examiner may still refuse an application.

How current is the data?

The index is refreshed daily from USPTO bulk data. It is not the official register and may lag it.

Do I still need an attorney?

For anything you are building a business on, yes. Screening finds conflicts; deciding what they mean for your situation is a legal judgement.
